New York Submetering
According to the New York Public Service Law, the state of New York Authorizes residential electric submetering and determines the Public Service Commission holds authority over submetering. The state also authorizes landlords to charge residents up to, but not more than, the direct metered utility rate for electricity. It establishes different provisions for master metered, rent stabilized or controlled buildings converting from rent inclusion to submetering and for new construction and market rate buildings.
