Utility billing is not regulated by the Nebraska Public Service Commission.
It is permissible to use ratio utility billing system (RUBS) or submetering to generate utility bills for multitenant dwellings. It is recommended to include the terms of occupancy in the rental contract. This should specify obligations of either party as it pertains to payment of utility bills.
Billing Service Providers are required to apply and be approved for licenses from a regulatory agency prior to starting the servicing of the client’s billing accounts. This requirement applies to several different areas of the USA. The license has to remain current and valid while doing business in these regions. If the state of Nebraska requires inspecting and testing of equipment before installation we will make sure all equipment is sent to the appropriate agencies on your behalf. Once the equipment has passed inspection and testing we will schedule installation.
To help make this process as smooth as possible for both you and your residents, Multifamily Utility will send out notices letting everyone know the date installation will begin.
After your new submetering system has been successfully installed we will work with your staff to get all resident information uploaded into our billing system as quickly as possible. Once everything has been properly set up all meter information will be read using wireless transmitters and receivers. That information will then be sent back to the Multifamily Utility headquarters for processing.
Our state of the art billing system will then read all meter information and create individual bills for every resident of the property. Once the bill has been created we will send them to every resident via either email or regular mail.
We will also collect all payments and send a reimbursement check to the owner, manager, association manager or other persons in charge of receiving payments once a month.
